A loop ride on Monte Belvedere with start and finish in Massa: mixed tarmac and singletrack climb. The route partly follows the XC race course of the 10 Comuni circuit. A ride reminiscent of typical Sunday outings, with a pleasant and fun mix of old and new school trails, expertly maintained by local bikers. We start from Piazza Aranci and head towards San Carlo. After reaching the town with its characteristic panoramic terrace, we turn right and climb Via Belvedere, then continue towards Tombara and Volpara. At the end of the paved road, uphill trails through chestnut trees lead us to Canalacci/Bandito, where we continue to the right on singletrack with some ups and downs, which will take us to a dirt road, then a mule track, and then asphalt again until we reach the area of Santa Croce, where we take a left onto the dirt road that leads to the summit of Monte Belvedere. We circumnavigate the peak of Monte Belvedere until we return to the Santa Croce area near the La Capanna restaurant. We follow the wooden signs for the Via delle Fonti and the white/red markers, passing through Loco del Beghescio to emerge on asphalt near the start of the Maribor and Budello trails and the Via delle Fonti, which we will follow until we reach the steps on the wide hairpin turn in the Tombara area that we already encountered on the ascent. From here, we descend to the Grotta delle Croci in the Tombara area and then to the Cristallo Spring and Malaspina Castle. We walk through the alleys surrounding it until descending Via Piastronata before returning to Piazza Aranci in Massa.
